This year marks the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of his principal work, On the Origin of Species. The theory founded by Darwin makes the sense of today’s life science. He contributed considerably both to the development of this theory and to the popularization of its claims and conclusions. Many of Darwin’s ideas were ahead of their time and are nowadays more important than ever before. The sense of biology found by Darwin continues to be filled with new meaning.
